Design Samuel Wilkinson for &tradition Concept The Blown SW3 Pendant is Samuel Wilkinson’s first lamp for &tradition. This pendant is made from elegantly mould-blown glass, sports a quilted pattern and is available in two versions. The shade is intended to be playful and explores the reflections, twists and refractions a light source experiences when surrounded by glass with patterns blown into it. The texture of the glass is created using computer-aided design in order to control the blowing of each bubble. The first is transparent with a discreet silver sheen while the other has a fascinating sandblasted matte white surface. The suspension fixture is powder-coated cast metal with a flexible E27 socket that is rated to 60 watts. The production process is characterised by its unique combination of industrial processes and traditional craftsmanship. The shade is intended to be playful and explores the reflections, twists and refractions a light source experiences when surrounded by glass with patterns blown into it. Wilkinson explains that it all began with the idea of seeing the world through a filter, inspired by antique ceramics, old glass pieces, lenses from old lamps, lighthouses and mirrored bottles.
