The 985BB features two permanently lubricated, non-detachable, hardened chrome alloy ball bearings that increase load capacity and hinge life. They may be used on wood or hollow metal doors and corresponding frames. The stainless steel, rust-proof pin is knurled at the top to prevent rising, yet is "free-floating" within the barrel of the hinge. The pin can be easily removed by unthreading each finial and tapping the pin upwards. Note: Doors equipped with closers should always have ball bearing hinges. They may be used on wood or hollow metal doors and corresponding frames.
